Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta. It is Canada's second most populous provincial capital and is a cultural, government and educational centre. It is on the North Saskatchewan River. The city has over twenty malls and shopping centres. The West Edmonton Mall is the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the world. It has over 800 stores and more than 100 restaurants and eateries. The attractions include World Water park, with slides, a wave pool, and swimming pool, Galaxy land, the worlds largest indoor amusement park, and a bungee jump. It also has a deep sea derby, bumper boats on an indoor lake; Sea Lions Rock, with three California sea lions performing daily; and Kid Tripolis, a city created just for kids to learn and experience real life. The mall is one of Alberta's most-visited tourist attractions. There is no shortage of night action in this city. Although the clubs tend to close around 2am, there is no shortage of after-hour action for those that are not yet ready to go home. The Edmonton gay scene is quite well developed, with several clusters of gay bars and clubs around in the downtown area off Jasper Street. The city also has a high demand for pub crawl tours. The Alberta Railway Museum interprets railway history with a station, rail yard, water tank, locomotive shop and car shop. The displays include steam and diesel locomotive technology, passenger, work and freight cars, and various pieces of machinery and buildings. Over 60 pieces of rolling stock are available for inspection. Train rides and a special display and interpretation of Morse Telegraphy. The Government House was the official residence of the Province's first six Lieutenant Governors and was built in 1912-1913. It is a three storey sandstone edifice and was designed in the Jacobean Revival style which is characterized by bay windows, high gabled roofs with raised ends, and groups of rectangular windows. The architect was R.P. Blakey. Alberta's Government House presently consists of a large combination reception and dining area on the main floor, as well as a music room and a library. The second floor consists of a central reception area surrounded by six small conference rooms, each named after one of the six Lieutenant Governors and a small study. The third floor consists of a large conference facility named the Alberta Room. It is now used for high-level government conferences, receptions, and dinners.
