Welp just spent 2600 on a msi gs66 stealth just so i can game in bed, because while i have a 2080ti and ryzen 9 with 1600 4K monitor and 240hz benq Zowie i miss laying in bed with a console controller and relaxing and gaming, so i got a 15.6 hoping it wont be too small to adjust too. Wish me luck lol

ردحذفOne thing, this video doesn't take into account the people who ONLY HAVE laptops and no desktop. In my opinion, this is where 17" screens are better because they serve as a desktop replacement while still being portable. When I went from a 17" to a 15" and I noticed a lot less usability. For example, on 15", side-by-side view of documents really isn't very feasible, but on 17" it's just big enough.

ردحذفGaming always go for 17 inch. If you game, there is no way you can game on battery anyway, that battery will only last 1.5h max with performance throttled to shit. You will be plugged in everywhere and at that point portability will be less of an issue.
ردحذفIf you need to tote it around daily 13-15 inch is perfect. Less often than 2-3 times a month, go big 17 inch. It really depends how often you need to move it around.
I'm getting a new 17.3 inch (which is quite light compared to older ones). This is for uni but I'm studying photography so for photo editing I want as big display as I can get 👍

ردحذفI had bought the Samsung 13.3" Notebook 7 spin with intel i5 on discount from the pawn shop down my street...
ردحذفI liked it, but, wasn't everything I needed... So, I went online and bought the Notebook 7 spin 15.6 model with Ryzen AMD and it's MUCH better.
Size and all with the right storage and RAM for what I need. The 15" was a great choice.
But i'd say between the two sizes, 13 or 15 either would be a good choice... The 17 incher is just a bit too much!
so no one is gonna talk about how he has windows 10 on a macbook???

ردحذفWhatever you decide, skip Digital Storm Avon 17 inch laptop. Quality control is not there.. I received two back to back defective units. One had a flickering LCD, the other had a USB that didn't work. I got a refund now looking into either HP Omen T17 or MSI GE65 Raider-051.

ردحذفUnfortunately 17" laptops seem to be somewhat of a dying breed with most options being a good bit pricier. On the plus side I've heard good monitors are getting really inexpensive so using a laptop as a makeshift tower might work if you're not looking into building a dedicated desktop PC.

ردحذفIm still lugging around an asus g73jh. With the charger it weighs about 15 lbs but when it was new 10 years ago, that was the only way to get the best specs and thermals. Now all that has changed and im going to upgrade to a 15 inch asus rog strix that weighs 6 lbs less all together and with thinner bezels it is a hell of a lot smaller, also its 5 times faster running games. I remember trying to shove the g73 into a backpack, good luck. Its like carying a cinder block in my travel bag

This is precisely the kind of info I was looking for, as I was shopping for a laptop that would be powerful enough for gaming and to act as a desktop replacement, yet still reasonably portable. Looks like I'll be going with a 15.6" model and just hook it up to a larger screen at home if I feel the need.

ردحذفI don't think it is fair that you're using a 17 inch laptop from 2008 in current times for comparison since in modern times tech has gotten a lot more efficient. Batteries can last 4-5 hours on average on a high end 17 inch laptop. Since computer parts have gotten smaller its easier to make thinner laptops which obviously means lighter and most 17 inches nowadays only weigh about 1 or 2 pounds more than a 15 inch so not really that heavy anymore.
ردحذفI'm extremely happy with a 15.6 inches ASUS full HD Chromebook that weighs only 3.1 lb or 1.4 kg. Lasts all day & was super inexpensive.
