How to use Canva to Make a Poster for Presenting Scientific Research Papers at Conferences
Try Canva pro:
One thing I didn't know when I started my PhD was that Poster Sessions are a thing. If you haven't heard, these are where you present your research via a poster. Now I amn't a graphic designer, but it's something I've gotten better at thanks to Canva. Canva allows you to make all kinds of graphics quickly and easily. This poster took like 20 minutes, of course I didn't fill in all of the information but if I had it would've probably taken an hour tops. With more and more conferences being online, it's increasingly important to be able to make these eye catching graphics to present academic / scientific research papers.

ردحذفI use Keynote along with LaTeXit. It makes high quality posters that look extremely professional like Beamer. It works well since Keynote also lets you make vector graphics.

ردحذفI find the artistic effects on Canva quite overwhelming for scientific posters, but thanks for showing us how you could make it work!
ردحذفFor poster creation, I like using Inkscape (or Adobe illustrator when my last University pays for it) because it also allows you to set the page in any dimension (in cm or inches) and you will see if your image may get pixelated for printing.
Inkscape is also lighter weight than ppt when I add shapes and text. I just like the user interface better (it's like MS paint but for graphic design)
If I want an irregular shape (a flask, a workflow...etc) for illustration of lab work (biology research), Inkscape is a great fit for that purpose (Scalable Vector Graphic software).
I would like to share this. There is a movement that we, young researchers, need to make stronger to change old traditions
