For this project, you will need:

You can use any image you like. For this demonstration I used 'The Seven Deadly Sins' by Chris Price, taken from Harper's Bazaar 'The Big Red Book'.
Directions
1. Take the image to the photocopier and scan it. If it has writings, flip it over.
2. Take the Modge Podge and pour it onto the canvas by covering all of it. Use a brush to make it even.
3. Take the image and place it on to the canvas, make sure to even up the sides and leave no wrinkles.
4. Take the roller and roll the image so that it fits perfectly on to the canvas, make sure that there is no glue onto the paper top.
5. Get rid of any glue stains that have pushed out on the sides of canvas.
6. Leave the canvas with image to dry out for 24 hours.
7. After the 24 hours, get a sponge, soak it in water and make the top layer of paper wet. You will start to see the image below.
8. Turn the canvas vertically and rub the paper side of canvas gently with your fingers, so the paper comes off slowly.
9. Keep on rubbing down the paper. If needed, add more water so that it comes off easier.
10. When you have cleared the image, you are finished. Good job!

ردحذفI tried a heat gun and it dries in about 5 mins. Its better that waiting 24 hours. You have to be careful not to burn the canvas, hands or anything around.

ردحذفIf you don't want to use a book under your canvas, Styrofoam works well. I have some i saved from packaging. Its lightweight, easy to remove. You can cut it to size with a wire. You needed a thicker book. Your canvas kept caving in when you wet it with sponge.
ردحذفI tried this so many times and wasted so much money and nothing worked. Also it MUST be inkjet so not the printers that 99% people have, you can't use a desk jet.

ردحذفA few questions please....1. I followed your instructions on a rock painted with a black paint/sealer. Then modge-podge, then image. Left to dry for 30 hours. Took rocks to sink and wet them. I think black from rock seeped into the image...colors in image dulled/covered and no image stayed,, I peeled off remnants of the image. Can't be done on painted surface? Not enough modge-podge? Too heavy handed? I will try again but wanted your input before I do. 2. What is the GREEN midge-podge you showed? Do you cover your transferred image with it? As a sealer? Do you paint your image? Before or after the Green modge-podge layer? If you paint it...after green layer what do you seal it with? I appreciate you, your video, and responses. I'm a 76 years old newbie to rock painting,..,.don't want to get discouraged when run into glitches. Thank you for your time, and help!
